Part VI
Velvet had gone through the day pretty happily, ignoring Xash who had any comments. That morning her mother had come by telling her that she'd take care of the pups. Now she was sitting in the last class of that day, History. Professor Chester was ranting a bit about the silver pentagram having gone missing. It didn't interest her much, but what did was that Xash seemed a bit too contented by the Professor's rage. Rolling her eyes, she produced her cell phone, texting 'So, how was your day?' she hadn't gotten much of a chance to speak to Aaron. Xash had caught her at lunch and they relayed some stories to each other, a few threats were made...and that was all.
Aaron had his phone out. 'Its been okay...I've missed you, but...who would have taken my pentagram....' He too was upset, after all it belonged to him, and he thought about standing up and saying so, but had decided against it.
'Don't worry too much,' she texted slowly, then glanced at Xash, she added, 'it'll show up.' Velvet turned her gaze in the direction of Aaron's seat, taking in a deep breath, he was more upset it seemed than the raving Professor Chester. She pressed send, intending to make the pentagram show up. Her suspect...would have a hard time denying it, tomorrow...was the full moon after all.
he smiled a bit. 'Just make sure you don't get hurt, Vel...okay?' He added a little sad face icon. 'I'd be upset...we're still on for tonight right? We don't have to see the pack, I thought dinner would be nice, my treat.'
She was more worried about him, Xash seemed to be out for her, but she was smarter than just to go after Velvet alone. Velvet herself expected that Xash might go after Aaron. 'Nothing to worry about. We're still on, you owe me a ride remember? Dinner sounds good...' she could still bring him to her part-time job though. It would be a bit empty, particularly tonight, so they'd probably allow it.
Aaron smiled. 'Where would you like to go, love? That's right your a beautiful modle, you sure it won't be any trouble?'
Velvet had learned not to close her phone too often, his replies were rather quick. This one, made her smile, 'Anywhere is fine, show me a place you like.' She pressed send, noticing that the girl with the shoulder length black hair from two days ago was looking between the two of them. Rumors would erupt soon enough, Velvet figured that that'd be fine.
Aaron thought about it. 'Well my taste in food is different then yours...so what kind of food do you like? I also don't like to make decisions. ^_^' He didn't care about rumors, I've heard some of them, already, but I don't care, I'm in love with her, and that's what matters.
She moved her head a bit looking out the window, it was still raining from last night, what kind of food did she really feel like today? 'Why don't we go for spaghetti?' Velvet glanced up as the Professor sighed, "Alright, class dismissed," he felt as if no one listened very much to him anymore.
'Wait for me, I'll drive you home." He walked up to the professser. "Sir..." He wanted him to know that it was his pentagram. He didn't care that the professor might think he was a werewolf or whatever.
"Yes Aaron?" the professor turned around, he had been gathering his stuff sullenly. Velvet leaned against the back door's frame, from this distance she could still see and listen. She fiddled with the golden pentagram that he had given her a few days ago. Well, she had to admit he had spirit. Slowly, Velvet listened around, she still could tell that Xash was on the campus.
"Sir, that pentagram you found, if you find out who took it, I would like to talk to them personally. It belonged to me." Aaron stated.
"It disappeared right before class started," the professor explained, "I'm sorry Aaron, I think it's beyond my hands now. If I find out, I'll be sure to tell you though."
Velvet had someone else in mind to ask, she'd do it in her own spare time. She flipped open her phone, running through the phone-list. Yesterday she had changed the name of one of those in her address book. 'Aaron' had been added to his title was 'Untouchable Aaron' because she felt like she couldn't touch him, he was out of her reach, and now she slowly inputted the letters, 'Savior'. He'd be the reason why she could understand...Aaron had shown her much determination. Something that she turned a blind eye to. When the conversation between the professor came down to, "I'm sorry again Aaron, I have something to do," she closed her phone, putting it back in her tote bag.
Aaron smiled. "Of course sir, thank you." He walked out he smiled at Velvet. "Well, my dear, are you ready for the day? Your chariot awaits." He had gotten his bag, he wanted to take her hand, but instead he just lent her his, maybe she would take it.
She glanced at his hand, if the young man wanted to escort her, there was no use in stopping him. Slowly, she took his hand, like going back in time. Velvet had once slipped her hand out of his, and now she was slipping her hand into his. "Shall we go?" came her voice as if nothing had happened, like the world was calm. Velvet herself felt like there was no future or past, just the present, she'd focus on the present.
Aaron smiled. "Can we go have ice cream first, before I take you home, then I wanted to show you something at my house." He walked with her slowly, entwining his fingers with her's...he loved this feeling it made him feel well he couldn't explain it.
"Ice cream? Sure, why not?" she shifted her fingers a bit, playing with his hand. Velvet wondered what he wanted to show her. It couldn't have been bad, not at a time like this. Her other hand touched the outline of the gold pentagram that hung about her neck.
He smiled and opened the door. "Your chariot, milady?" He bowed. He really hoped she liked what he had to show her, it was something he'd made himself. He wanted to give it to her personaly, he thought about sending it to her anonymously but he wanted to see the look on her face.
She couldn't help but smile at his theatrics of escorting her, sliding into the seat Velvet glanced at him. He seemed to be excited, judging by the smile on his face. It just made her all the more curious, "We don't have to stop by my house," she offered him, "I can keep my stuff and bring it home after."
He smiled at her. "Are you sure...I wouldn't want your parents to worry. Or any of the other members of your family for that matter." he started the car and packed out slowly.
"It's good," she replied, "if they have something important, they'll call me." Velvet found herself liking his smile, a thought she didn't try to push away, at least not for now. She was thinking present...now, not what her thoughts could get her in. The rain itself was clearing a bit, assuring clearer skies soon.
He brushed her hair back as they stopped. "Any ways, we're here...sorry the ride wasn't longer, but the ice cream place is about twenty minutes away by car.' He smiled gently, and got out, before walking over and opening her car door.
Watching him with a curious case for a moment, her gaze stopped when he exited the car. She sighed a bit, Velvet could feel a tingle pass over her, there was no way she would let herself go. That was, maybe she could keep a better hold on herself. No...she had told herself that she wouldn't think about anything else besides now, today. Sliding out as she had slid in Velvet greeted, "Thanks," as her foot reached the pavement.
He smiled. "Your welcome, Vel." He led her in the house. "I'll be right back." He ran upstairs and looked at the painting, he smiled a bit, he'd even framed it, he took it carefully and went down stairs.
She was here again, his house, taking a bit of a look around she felt a nice warm atmosphere. Velvet tucked her hands into her pockets, thinking about Aaron, he shortened her name again. It gave her a sort of closer feeling to him. Just as her thoughts on Aaron was reaching a climax she noticed him coming down the stairs.
Aaron smiled at her. "That painting I made, I framed it, I wanted to give it you for your birthday but I didn't know when it was." He handed it to her, it was wrapped already. "Here you go."
She took it, feeling herself grow hot under such a generosity, "I-It's May first." Velvet smiled, running her hand over the paper, feeling the hard glass beneath. "I'm tempted to give you something," she felt as if she were taking more than giving now. He gave her so much already.
He smiled at her. "Would you like to know what you could give me?" He asked her, gently. It wouldn't be anything to extravagant, there was no way he would need that, just something simple
A curious look came across her face, "As long as it's something I can do? You wouldn't expect me to go out and..." she was about to say transform, but then she stopped, "What would you like me to give you?" Velvet hugged the wrapped painting to herself.
He smiled. "It has nothing to do with the full moon, my dear." He paused. "I would like a hug from you..that's all, nothing major and nothing real big." He grinned.
"A hug?" she questioned lightly, well it hardly seemed equal in her stance. But she'd humor him, glancing for a place to set the present. Moving the wrapped gift, the treasure, to lay on the table nearby she had her arms free, now that she was really going to do it, she was flustered. Such a humble request.
"If you don't want to, its okay." He smiled at her. "We can just go get ice cream and call it even."
She shook her head, moving into him, wrapping her arms about his waist. Her hands flat on his back, "Thank you Aaron...so much."
He smiled and hugged her, he gently tilted her face up, he kissed her. "Sorry I forgot to say that...but I figured I'd just better show you instead." He smiled. "Okay...ice cream, right?"
